Revival Retreat 2025

Revival Retreat 2024

Reviving the Islamic sciences

The Revival Retreat is a unique opportunity for seekers on the path of sacred knowledge. This retreat brings together Nur Sa’aadah’s primary objectives: the pursuit of knowledge, spiritual devotion, and community engagement.

This year, Imam al-Ghazali’s Book of Knowledge from the Ihya ʿUlum al-Din (The Revival of the Religious Sciences) will be studied in immersive lectures and interactive sessions led by our dear teachers Sh. Yahya Rhodus (US), Sh. Musab Penfound (Yemen) and Sh. Yasser Qureshy (Turkey). There will also be guest teachers attending.

Alongside lectures, the daily schedule will include congregational prayers and gatherings of remembrance. Students will have the opportunity to benefit directly from our teachers through reflective and interactive sessions. This will all take place in an idyllic space surrounded by forest land and water.

Reviving the heart

It is hoped that this combination of sacred knowledge, devotional acts, companionship and a serene natural environment will benefit the heart, bringing about openings, purification and ascension.

Students will be provided with self-catering breakfast options in their cottages. Lunch and dinner will be served at the communal hall where attendees will eat together. Food served will be wholesome and nourishing, intended to compliment the devotional works students will be engaging in throughout the day and night.

This Retreat is aimed at adults over the age of 18, however, if you are a family or have children and you would like to attend, please register below and we will do our utmost to accommodate you.

Upon Allah we rely and it is by His will we intend and set out on the above.

Revival Retreat Teachers

We're honoured to be led by three great scholars from around the world

Shaykh Yahya Rhodus

Shaykh Yahya Rhodus is the Founding Director of Al-Maqasid, an Islamic seminary whose vision is to facilitate the realisation of Islam, Iman and Ihsan through immersion in the Prophetic Inheritance. His journey began at the traditional school of Murabit al-Hajj in the desert of Mauritania shortly after his conversion. His path of learning then led him to the acclaimed school Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, where he received instruction from the renowned scholar and spiritual guide Habib Umar Bin Hafiz.

Shaykh Musab Penfound

Shaykh Mus’ab Penfound was born and raised in Manchester, England. After a two year journey, he entered Islam at the age of eighteen. He has received formal training through a classical syllabus based upon the formal Islamic sciences combined with the disciplines of inward purification. He has received scholastic permission and licences (ijazah) from leading traditional scholars and specialises Sacred law, the Sciences of Inward Purification and the biographical texts of the early pious Muslims and scholars.

Shaykh Yasser Qureshy

Yasser Qureshy has spent almost two decades studying the Islamic intellectual tradition, primarily in Damascus and Istanbul. Presently, he is a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge, where he also convenes the MPhil in Islamic Philosophical Theology, and teaches papers across all three years of the undergraduate Tripos.
